What do you expect? It's a defense that's mainly new faces.

I'd like to see better than high school JV level tackling. That's just me though.

I don't mind Hurd, Malone or Lane making the defense look stupid.

Worley and Dobbs doing it, however, is scary

I've only seen the highlights, but two things:

    1. Only Ferguson looked to be blitzed
    2. I only saw Jones on the field when Ferguson was out there

Were these consistent, and for Ferguson alone?

Malone looks to be a burner.

He's also an extremely good route runner. There's no wasted steps.

60 yards on a broken play? Sounds better when you say they drew it up that way.

I thought that too when I was watching in person but I think beginning in the 2nd Qtr the defense began stunting and sending people. Ferguson was extremely unlucky in that on his two biggest sacks..............

PLAY 1) Jacob Gilliam, who is not an SEC Tackle, failed to pick up the invert (Swafford) who he either did not see pre-snap or just didn't give a shit about.

PLAY 2) Ray Raulerson didn't make an attempt to engage ANYONE much less the man who buried his QB and Jalen Hurd did not pick up the change in protection.

To identify why the other QBs did not have the same problems ( the other 3 were possibly more demonstrative pre-snap) i'll have to wait and see the complete film in a few days  . Regardless, something clearly was different when the other 3 were out there and I am very interested in finding out.
