A single state solution would mean the elimination of the only Jewish state on planet earth, not just from a genocidal perspective, but from a voting/control of government perspective. A two state solution isn’t an option when one side won’t come to the table.
I agree, but I am not going to pretend like it is just a matter of Palestine coming to the table. It is not. The current leader of Israel has a decades-long record of being clear Palestine can never be allowed to have a state. How is that fair? And how can he be trusted to navigate the current situation when his stated goal is the removal of Palestinians from the region?
The whole, if Palestine put down their weapons there would be peace, if Israel did there would be no Israel is a bumper sticker political slogan. There is no Palestine, the stakes Israel fears are the reality for Palestinians
I never understood why this woman got so much play, other than as a (moderately) pretty face to use against the evil trans folks. What was her great injustice, tying for fifth with Lia Thomas at an NCAA swim race final? Her parlaying this massive trauma into some kind of regular commentary gig left her at the center of the Victim, but Not Really Victim industry, clouding her sense of proportion and leading her, eventually, to make idiotic statements as the one below. My one non-sneering point here which is isn't discussed very often, as opposed to sort of the silly, well-trod ground of the "white Santa" laid with Megyn Kelly and so forth, is her complaint "the overwhelming majority" feel a certain way "about this issue", this ever important issue of wokey people pitching non-traditional representations of traditional fictional characters. I don't know why "only a small number of people want this" is a rational argument. Some might want this, so who are you to tell them they shouldn't have it. A black Santa in a wheel chair isn't important, but, if you get your panties in a bunch over something so innocuous because your world view faces a little bump (affecting you none), what happens when you do the same thing over something which really matters? It's an arrogance, entitlement, and a failure to comprehend the world evolves relentlessly encapsulated in a silly meltdown from someone who has been elevated by the likes of Clay Travis to exploit the rubes.
Lol who tf actually cares?! Talk about a privilege one has having enough time to worry about what an ex-college swimmer-whom rightfully said it was unfair she had swim against a biological male when she was in college-is now saying about Santa freaking Clause. Like what?! Lol
Lol I know you will/do actually care about this. This outrage story is perfectly marketed towards folks just like you
To expand, I think this conversation goes beyond insignificant talk about "fictional characters", but towards larger, more serious issues where the argument "a majority of people of against this" reigns, as well. Arguing about her Santa complaints is dumb. However, those arguments emanate from somewhere and about something more problematic.
Arguing that she should have stopped being “transphobic” like a decent person and just shut up and swam against a biological male in college is far more dumber of an argument to make compared to anyone out there who is actually taking her “Santa Clause lol” riff seriously
No, I am not Riley Gaines' target audience. Nothing outrageous about black Santa Clauses or wheel chairs or whatever.
I learn something new every day... It is illegal for the Palestinian people living in the occupied West Bank to collect rainwater. In addition to occupying the West Bank, Israel has seized control over the collection of rainwater by criminalizing its collection and harvest. According to Amnesty International, these laws date back to 1967, when Israel took control of all water sources in the West Bank. https://themessenger.com/news/it-is-illegal-to-collect-rainwater-in-the-west-bank-heres-why
People, including some Israelis, are quick to want to say it is only by charity and good will that Palestinians have water and electricity, but the truth is they are under occupation and under Israel's laws. They aren't allowed to be self-sufficient. The situation is more complicated than what we are being told by either side. Normal people are getting [uck fay]ed over completely.
Don’t really see the 400% increase reported too much. Other attacks with smoke bombs at a a home, vandalism. I guess it’s alright now. No big deal. just a bunch of peaceful people. This is just the beginning. https://www.adl.org/resources/press...ease-us-antisemitic-incidents-following-oct-7
It is probably true on both sides. I am guessing both sets of prisoners have been mistreated. And it will be held up by both as proof of the righteousness of their side's actions. I am glad there is a cease fire. If it can be 4 days, it can be permanent. Nothing is solved by this. Hamas should surrender themselves and Israel pledge to provide more autonomy while the Palestinian authority organizes a Gaza government. We need a permanent 2 state solution and to find a way for the two nations to grow together in the future.
