Spurrier trolled the **** out of us and got exactly the response he was looking for. Then Rome jumped and a the fans melted their titts off all over again. I'd call that victory.
It'd be a little more compelling if he didn't represent USCe, the program that made delusions of grandeur and celebrating mediocrity an art form.
Couldn't have done it without him quitting on his team in OT. Or I guess it could have been a stroke.
Unlike most of our fanbase, I'm just glad to have beaten him two years in a row, so as to be relevant enough to warrant being the focus of his barbs, again. What has he aimed at Tennessee in the last several years, before this? I can't recall anything. What most Tennessee fans will overlook is that his comments are entirely correct. And they'll be more pissed off at OBC, for having said it, than at themselves for celebrating mediocrity, and thereby making the comment true, and proving him right.
Spurrier will be Spurrier. We are climbing and they are decending. We continue and his comments are silly. We do another 7-6 and his comments sting like hell.
Rome's a provocateur. It is / he is what he is. It makes for entertaining tele. As to his comments, I can't / don't fault him he's spot-on imo. We haven't done squat since '08. The program is barely, if at all a shell of what it once was. Winning, consistent winning is a cure all and an effective silencer of critics and pundits
If he's being compared to a drunk for his comments, so be it. A shell of a coach taking on a shell of a program.
