http://www.rockytoptalk.com/2014/8/27/6072983/tennessees-most-important-player-utah-state-week Who is the most important guy? Tell me something neither me nor Marsellus have heard.
So do I. I especially like trying to think out of the box a little bit to get the conversation going in different directions.
Lane imo. If he's the steady 4 yard grinder he's been his whole career, Tennessee will have a damn good 1-2 punch at tb
Most Important Vol: Mike Bajakian Let's face it, we're hamstrung with mediocre to slightly above-average SEC quarterback(s). The offensive playcalling needs to set the tone early and often. From what I've read, Utah State's secondary is the team's biggest weakness, or at least one of their biggest. That plays into an extremely big advantage for North, Pearson, Howard, Croom, Malone, & Co. I would love nothing more than to see a consistent run game set up the Play Action pass all day long. We have the horses to do it...we just need to get them the ball. I don't know what Worley's strong points are, in terms of routes he throws better than others, but the coaching staff sure as hell does--I'd call as many of them as possible, all game long...get his confidence up. However, the Aggie defense is now slouch: Link: - Utah State 2014 Preview The Linebackers are stout but the secondary is new. Both O & D lines mimic, almost identically, our situation--lot of new starters but filled with players who've seen meaningful snaps over their careers. I'd love nothing more than to see this game play out like NC State in 2012. That matchup reminds me a lot of this one. A blowout would be nice, but I'm not expecting one. I see a hard fought contest from both sidelines...hopefully we wind up the victor in the end.
But who did Utah State play, in route to that hefty defensive ranking? Let's see: a terrible Air Force team, Hawaii, New Mexico... They lost to everyone decent.
I don't disagree with any of that but you can't take that away from them either. Confidence can usurp talent...sometimes. IMO, when it's all said and done for 2014, their defense will rank somewhere in the middle to lower half of all the defenses we see this year. Still, I'd prefer our offense to prepare like they're playing Bama, not some sacrificial lamb.
Holding Southern Cal and Wisconsin under 20 points in consecutive seasons says something for their defense's ability to step up in class though
Haven't they lost a lot of players though? I thought I read they were one of the youngest/least experienced teams in the country.
A USC team that didn't have a qb or a 7-5 wisconsin team though. It's not like either were national title contenders. They were both average teams
