we were going to have at least 4 SEC ballplayers next year. We might actually have none at this point.

only we could take a situation that poor and actually make it considerably worse.

some attrition is perfectly normal, but this scorched earth stuff is pretty ridiculous

unfortunately, Stokes isn't around any longer to salvage a lot of those bricks.

You can treat kids at places like Morehead and Southern Miss however you want because they are usually on their last chance. Kids with options aren't going to take near as much shit.

In situations like the one Tennesse's players are in, how much direct/indirect contact is being made with other schools at this point?

    A whole bunch.

That's what I assumed. I'd love to see you one day write a blog detailing how college basketball fell into a state of near anarchy.

It has essentially morphed into the old CBA. I'm waiting for guys to start getting waivers to transfer midweek. Coaches brought this on themselves. When they became transient mercenaries, the players just followed suit.

How much if any blame can you put on AAU and shoe companies?

Not near as much as people think. They only have the power because coaches and schools allow it.

At least whatever success/failure he has next year will be because of his players. Guess that's not a good thing but I can't stand the conversations of "how will X coach do without X coach's players."
