I am going to be honest, it will be interesting to see how our guys come out in this game. It will tell me a lot if they are truly buying into what Heupel is selling. Other than that, no injuries and lots of time for Milton and other backups.
Perfectly placed on the schedule, particularly after an upset. Could be tough to immediately turn our attention to Kentucky. Nice to have an opportunity to savor the win, get the hangover behind us, and hopefully get healthy for the stretch run.
Imagine beating #3 Bama one week and then dropping a game to UT Martin the following week lol… would be the most bizarre thing ever.
How banged up is the secondary? Any serious injuries that could linger into Kentucky week? How about Latrell Bumphus and Mincey?
I know they were looking at Bumphus' foot a LOT during the game. Sit him for UT-Martin, I say, especially if it is turf toe or something like that.
Bumphus is a native Tennessean playing his senior year against Alabama, so I know why he went Saturday but yeah, he needs rest.
This game (and more to the point, the KY game) will also help us understand how this team goes from being the hunter to the hunted. Fulmer never made that transition well, as his personality was just not set up for it. I think Heupel will relish it and revel in it just like Spurrier did. But I want to see it. I want to be the bad guy in the league, the team that people go "oh [uck fay]" when we roll into town.
We were playing at least one walk on DB late in the Bama game. The worst opponent on the schedule comes at a great time. We need to heal up as many guys as we can back there before Kentucky comes to town.
Halloween weekend at home, Tennessee should wear black. That was one reason 09 South Carolina was cool
