I have been trying this article on for size. His description of the American electorate and political situation right now is pretty accurate. I'm not sure I buy all of the analogies with 1800s Russia, but some are definitely there.

I think we are at a really odd time when leaders and institutions, like the Russian czars, no longer have legitimacy with a good chunk of the country. Of course Trump exacerbates that, but the problems would be there if there were no Donald Trump.

For us in Russia communism is a dead dog, while, for many people in the West, it is still a living lion.

I think the only way that line makes sense is if the person making the statement thinks communism and socialism are synonymous.

Post modernists are the ones driving our train into us going farther into collectivism.

Now that's wrapped around being compassionate but will do more harm than good

I would agree if the progressives were pushing for a free market economy like the Norwegian countries but with just more Welfare programs.

that's not the push though. They hate the free market. Which is understandable since they've been told and taught that this crony capitalism is free market.

Capitalism is the great Satan in the eyes of some in my Facebook feed. I really don't think they really know what they are talking about.

There is a point where capitalism can go too far, and it becomes just greed.

You can't have socialism go too far, it just isn't sustainable, today.

Problem is that most of what they've seen isn't really capitalism but cronyism. They should be pissed at that

Interest rate being at zero is [uck fay]ing crazy. We still have a huge bubble from 08 that's only grew that is going to be hell to pay.
