Does finding hunting ammunition suck again? My 10yo has taken to shooting up the countryside with a .25-06 tuned to a straight out of the box Hornady load that I can't seem to find.
I haven't struggled finding ammo. But I haven't looked for a specific ammo, as I'll just shoot whatever.
Huh. Possible they have relabled the "custom" round as Superformance or American Whitetail, whatever that is. I will look again when I have the box in my hand.
Yeah, after looking at it I think it is rebranded as https://www.hornady.com/ammunition/rifle/25-06-rem-117-gr-interlock-btsp-american-whitetail#!/ 117 gr btsp interlock at 2990 fps looks like the same thing in a new box.
I probably would. I have no time to learn all of that shit, much less do it. I actually enjoy the process of finding a load for a rifle, but aside from some semi-custom stuff I had worked up for my .375, that's been finding the right box off the shelf.
A lot of the presses these days do a lot of the work for you. All you gotta do is get some brass, find a powder amount you like, set that fall on the press, set the seat depth of the round (if you have cannelure rounds, that's usually about your depth) and then crank the handle. You don't have to spend time cleaning, cutting and reaming brass. You can just buy new brass. Just throw the press on a bench somewhere and oil it every now and then. You can always look forward to doing it during retirement.
That does tend to work out well, if there is a fair amount of trust both ways. The shooter has to trust the knowledge, skill and attentiveness of the reloader, so as to be content with risking a round blowing up. And the reloader has to risk that they can live with blowing up the shooter.
