Looks like we're hunting timber opening morning. Hurray. I get to get wet and not be able to drink coffee. But isn't it so awesome to watch ducks fly through timber? (Eh)
It is awesome and is usually a quick hunt. I'm either hunting out of a tiny coffin pit or a floating pontoon, depends on where the ducks are at.
Yesterday was crappy. Enough to eat dinner though. Today was great. Mostly mallards but some teal, gads and a wigeon mixed in. Seen a ton of teal and woodducks. Teal were like a cloud of blackbirds zipping overhead yesterday, but cloud cover kept them from working in.
No idea why hunters don't do it. Or crackers. They will swim right over. Somebody fire a shot then everybody will blindly hit a couple with ease.
Despite knowing better, I came over. So far it has cost me a half day of work, a dirty truck and someone threw out the last of my bourbon because I left it on the table while doing some dishes.
