I would probably put Clapton ahead of Page. Don't let my wife hear this, though, she worshiped Zeppelin when she was in high school.
What do you think? Men at Work were found negligent for copying "Kookaburra" although it was a minimal financial hit (5% of royalties earned from the song since 2002 and from its future earnings).
That sounds really close. Far closer than the song that Zeppelin was accused of stealing. But I love me some Men at Work (and not just NYY in the construction worker outfit).
I'm sorry I was mistaken. It was Dazed and Confused that was a song he took from his buddies in the Yardbirds and slightly changed the lyrics. Edit- he stole it from his time in Yandbirds from this guy
Zep stole plenty of music. They are undoubtedly the greatest cover band of all time. ....having said that, I still don't care.
More like a fact. I love SRV, he was amazing. And yes he played the blues in a rock manner because he shredded but he was still a blues guitarist. Hendrix was amazing and he did some unique things that others had never thought of but Page did it all. Folk, rock, blues, he did everything.
I agree with you on SRV but Hendrix was next level. The diversity seen from Are you Experienced (Where he recorded his guitar track in reverse), 1983...A Merman I Should Turn To Be, and Highway Chile (my favorite) is about as steep as it gets.
Early work sure, he took some Yarbird stuff, if you're gonna rip someone off might as well be Jeff Beck.
