My son and I were talking about veer blocking watching the game. Or just run the veer period, no one in college would be ready to Defend it.
I'll be more specific next time. I'm old school and have a habit of using "we" as a collective, team thing. We (Vols) have some (i.e. in this case a specific lineman) that can't find the line of scrimmage.
I would say Scott Cochran is second only to Saban himself in terms of credit for Bama’s success over the past several years.
Charlotte allowed 49 points to UMASS. Charlotte allowed 28 points to UAB - They just restarted their football program last year. We need linemen, but like Saban said "Hey, you coach who you got." The coaching has been subpar and thats being nice.
Was the game plan and play calling as good in this game as it was in the South Carolina game ? How about the Auburn game ?
I think it's obvious they didn't give two shit about Charlotte and wanted to get it out of the way. Chandler and Jennings playing a combined 12 snaps doesn't help either, they've been good for around 120 yards and a TD a piece since UGA. I would have loved to have watched a crisp, efficient 35 points scored by the half and then go into turtle mode. However, a few of the starting olinemen for Tennessee are Charlotte level players. I like Tim Jordan, but he's about a CUSA talent. The defense allowed 77 total yards in the second half. It was ugly but it's over. There weren't any injuries and Chandler and Jennings got to rest.
We won the game and avoided giving our future opponents any additional film worth watching. Vanilla game plans are meant to be just that. We just don't have the talent on this roster to blow bad teams out despite the vanilla game planning right now.
I'm not saying Fahr Jermy. Just saying to me it looks like the theres more to the disfunction on offense than just subpar lineman. I'm probably wrong.
