I wasn't defending him, I've been as critical of him as anybody. Only point is that if I'm ranking SEC coaches based on who I'd pick as UT's coach, he's further up the list than he'd be if the list were just ranking coaching ability.

 

The worst is a stretch but he's definitely a bottom feeder.

 

We should beat the brakes off of both those teams.

Where I'm at. His game day abilities are well chronicled. He's got the other stuff down it appears. Like JG said, hiring Shoop was a massive step in the right direction, it would have been really easy to keep Martinez and wax about improvement and whatever else crap he could think of but in by far his most pivotal year he fired the guy and made a home run hire. Now if we could get a QB coach and a new WR coach.

 

Anyone with a pulse who's not looking for a buyout can recruit well here.

I'm not suggesting it's hard, but it's not USC or Texas either. recruits don't just show up at your door wanting to play for you. or at least not enough to win championships. put butch at USCe and I bet he still recruits fairly well. not at this level, but well.

 

UCLA 2008 was the worst game. Complete failure in all facets of the game results in an undermanned UCLA team beating us despite playing like shit.

 

yes. that ucla team had no right winning that game.

 

They threw four picks and our running backs were averaging like nine yards a carry. And we lost.

Exactly. Poor recruiting was the exception.

 

This is why being in the playoff picture this season is critical. The recruiting will drop off if we don't.
