He played the NCAA into a corner, no way they could decline his immediate transfer request. And he threw Georgia under the bus to do it. I'm good with his strategy.

 

Think when he was sent out to run a fake punt in a playoff game against a team yelling “fake punt!”, he decided to gtfo.

 

It’s honestly a smart move by the Bears. Fields isn’t the long-term solution at QB, so they avoid having to give him a monster extension. Now they can start over with another rookie QB who has a team friendly contract.

 

Was really the only option.

if you keep him, and he sucks. You’re fired.

If keep him and he kills it and you win. You’re forced to give a mega contract that kills your rebuild.

This will be a disaster. It is going to lead to guys getting held up and then gang tackled, which will be called "defenseless player" or whatever.

 

Basically, if you don't hit them in the chest, let them go

 

As an effort to improve safety in tackling, go back to more baggy uniforms. Give the guys something to grab.
