But the peak power demand in terms of cooling degrees is going to be a lot higher than usual as well.

It’s not going to be a fun couple of days regardless.

Our electricity rate will have gone up $0.03/kwh between May and August here. Between weather and fuel costs TVA is having to raise rates.

One of the extremely underrated aspects of renewables generally, and wind/solar in particular, and to some extent nuclear, is that the costs are fixed. Yes, natural gas can be cheaper... except when it is not.

It's why we need a good mix of generation sources and should not lean too hard on one. And why we need storage.

Oil is fungible and easy to ship but natural gas is a different story

it’s is going to get incredibly ugly this winter in Europe energy wise and a lot of bad policies are going to come back to haunt them.

We went through about a two hour stretch where the lightning looked like a strobe light.

Side note, does anyone want to come clean out a flooded basement?

UAE has serious flooding. Watch what I surmise to be a big truck from which this footage is taken cruise by at a speed fast enough to bust out windows with its wake. WTF, truck guy.

Watch Invest 98L. Could be a major gulf hurricane by next week. This means mind your gas tanks NOW. If you live down that way, supply up NOW. Don't wait until it has its projected cone on your [penis].

It's early, but forecast has us near middle of cone at landfall. You just don't know until it gets about 48 hours out, and even then they might wiggle.

It’s a little south of forecast due to uncertainty on actual center which might mean it’s hard then east comes later. I would say decent error bars right now.

It is worth considering evacuating if you are near the gulf coast side. That stretch around Tampa hasn't had a big hit in a long time and there would be significant damage from storm surge if that is what it does.

Oh, that's not good at all. You stay safe, too.

Fortunately, we are not a high-risk flood area. Will be mainly a wind event here. Brother just got evacuation notice by 12PM tomorrow. He lives near Ca' d'Zan on Sarasota Bay. We're around 12 miles inland.
