We still have welfare, so elements of socialism do exist. It's how far along the continuum are you, though.
Because we don't yet heave enough worthless net negative types that make this less than the best country in the world and the place with the most opportunity. Most of those [itch bay]ing about lack of opportunity are those who can't figure out how to take advantage of any. Who cares that their opinion of opportunity is negative. They aren't taking advantage anyway. They'll [itch bay] about their plight and the cruel world regardless where they are, as more capable or clever people run circles around them.
I think the mechanics by which a percentage of money is taken off the top of a given amount of money earned qualifies as both forceful and a force.
Of course it is. It's stupid. Everyone isn't going to. They should suffer to the point that others are discouraged.
Not if they work hard. We all meet our match in wits. We can still work hard and earn our keep. I have no qualms with anyone who does so and is still net negative.
If by "just aren't clever" you mean mentally challenged, yes I do. If you mean of less than average IQ, I would have to say no in most cases. No reason they cannot do most jobs.
Well sure, nobody has qualms with people who work hard and try to get the most out of what they have. But does it bother you that the idea of "standing out" is a non-starter for a lot of people who just don't have the chops to do so. It's okay if it doesn't. It's a fairly theoretical question.
Of course they can do most jobs. but that isn't the same thing as slapping the world across the head with your swinging schlong, which is what BPV is talking about.
My wife's cousin is dumb as a box of rocks, but he works his ass off. He does well. His daughter is one of the smartest people I've talked to. I don't know how he did it.
My wife's cousin is what we in a less pc era called retarded and she's a manager at SAMs club. A low level manager, but still a manager. Before that she worked at the front desk of a hotel. I'm sure she doesn't earn more than say $30k a year, but it certainly indicates you don't have to be smart to make some sort of living.
It's an uneven metric. With any tax system, folks get all up in arms about being "forced" to do this or that. Yet in the same breath a system in which labor is forced via threat of starvation and destitution is hailed as great.
Not in the least. You can stand out by out working people. Unfortunately, it's easier to stand out by underperforming.
Pathetic. Animals have survival in their makeup or aren't here. Science only useful when it's about free money?
Funny how people are starving, but when you give them bread and government cheese, it's not enough. People need steaks, lobster, pizza, energy drinks, and cookies to live. It's funny how many people are starving to death and at the same time 200 pounds over weight
I was in a man's place of business on the day that cheese and all the other items were distributed. There were quite few things in addition to cheese. People were lined up to sell this guy the items they had just received. His business was a old style country store in Hamblin County. After getting their cash they then purchased cigarettes, beer, soda pop (mostly Mtn Dew) and lottery tickets. Very few if any bought actual food items. He made the purchases in a back room paying about 25-30% of the value of the items. When there was a lull, I asked him was the cheese any good, and how much he sold it for. He gave me a chunk to taste, and it was decent. I told him I would take a box, and he opened a large storage closet that had to have had several thousand dollars worth of items in it. I don't remember the exact price, but I remember it was around three times what he paid.
