Gibbs totally changed offensive football in the NFL. Hell his running attack is still the core being ran today in college and the nfl
He won three Super Bowls with three different starting quarterbacks. He’s certainly top ten and you could make the argument that he’s top five.
His 12 and 11 personal running iz and WZ changed how defense could be played and killed the 46 defense
Wasn’t that on 3rd and 10 with a lead late in the game? Seems a bit risky, considering the circumstances. The receiver being able to get open still doesn’t make it a super high percentage play. And isn’t he partially to blame for his QB missing it?
Then I stand corrected. I will only add that I stand by my earlier statements that it was his fault they were in the predicament of being down 24-20 in the first place.
Shanahan also drew up another play that had Deebo open out wide to Jimmy’s right, that probably would have gone for a first down had he seen him, with around 5 min left. That said, I think it’s fair to criticize Shanahan too, I’m not trying to get him off the hook. But he also can’t throw the ball for Garoppolo either.
After the second Mahomes INT? Edit: I thought for some reason they both were in the 4th but that wasn’t right. They picked up a first down, then tried to pass on 2nd&9, but I don’t remember that play specifically. They then of course had to pass on 3rd&9 but picked up a false start and a JG scramble ended the drive. I guess looking back, they should have run again on 2nd down, but I think that sequence was what Shanahan was referring to when he said he felt like he had to keep the sticks moving.
