Interesting deal on the VN site with their insider, AtlantaVol, saying it's been a big help the Georgia "bag man" has been sidelined by the virus shutdown, evening the playing field for a lot of these recruits. Not so subtly, he suggests the 247 Georgia guy, Rusty Mansell is the guy the Dawgs send out for their dirty work and noted the Las Vegas TE, Darnell Washington was looking our way before Mansell sewed him up during the dead period. Another dude who works with some high school athletes (Zach Evans currently) there also said Georgia was super shady and dishonest.
I love the "Rusty is the bagman" storyline and will be spreading it often on the boards. I'm pretty sure DE1 or whatever his username is, is a barber for a lot of the NPA guys in Nashville.
I do get the vibe that a disproportionate number of the guys who cover recruiting are just basically good ole boys who grew up fans of a team and found a way to make a living covering an aspect of their favorite team. The opportunity is there for some shenanigans to take place. Wouldn’t surprise me at all.
it is somewhat inevitable. there is not a way to forecast the decisions of teenagers with integrity or grace. Ubben does a great job explaining what happened and what it means. he doesn't try to insert himself in the process, which is what necessarily occurs when you start rating guys and putting out crystal balls.
