I think they only worked together 2 years. Some familiarity there I'm sure but I doubt they're best friends. They may have overlapped at OU.

 

Elarbee is a critical hire, IMO. Without him we're probably dumpster diving and the offense won't work.

Definitely. They won't have to be ace recruiters to pull in good talent on the offense if they put up 400ypg.

Get a decent DC in, convince one or both of Toot and Couch to stay and maybe grab some other guys off the portal.

I think the bigger problem is our current LB corps were recruited for a failed attempt at installing the 3-4. Our OLBs are 240+ with Baron and Eason each listed at 255.

If JH wants to run the 3-3-5 that tends to be a favorite among HUNH defenses, we'll need to shift our depth chart around a lot.

 

Hard to imagine Steele couldn’t have been an asset a linebackers coach and recruiter. And if he wanted to be elsewhere, then let the school that wants him pay his buyout.

Is no wonder the coaches were throwing stacks of cash around so haphazardly....the university created the atmosphere.

 

His tenure hinging on getting one guy as an o-line coach is not exactly awe inspiring.

 

I got even worse news. He can get Elarbee and it will still fail if he can't find a DC

 

Hopefully they get David Reeves out of UAB. That'd be a solid DC hire that we can make. Muschamp and Odom are not happening even if we weren't about to get hammered by the 'AA
