COVID-19 (artist formerly known as Wuhan strain novel Corona virus)

It is now confirmed in 20 countries, and in every hemisphere. It is unclear how long it has been in circulation. It is unclear whether this is substantively worse than delta, but it does seem to outcompete delta.

 

I'm thinking that when the smoke clears, this doesn't mean shit. Delta was a problem and kept this going. Doesn't mean every popular variant is going to change the game.

 

I'm just being a smart ass. We're eventually gonna get to the omega omega delta omicron variant.

 

Now I kinda wonder what variation we are on of the common cold.

 

I'm personally holding out for the Lambda Lambda Lambda version.

 

More than 200 distinct viruses can cause the common cold, so it must be in the 5 or 6 digits in total.

At this point I feel like there was some big money in net shorts on oil that fueled omicron hysteria.

I just want to congratulate China for 18 months of no new COVID cases. They're the real MVP.

 

So apparently places are starting to halt elective surgeries again, which just seems utterly insane to me.

Do insurance companies drive these decisions? Seems to me that they're the ones who have the most to gain from a halt on elective surgeries during the biggest time for elective surgeries of the entire year. Wonder how much money stuff like this will save them?

Imagine having already hit your deductible and then being told "Sorry, we can't schedule your surgery until next year, when you will be back on the hook for paying for it."

 

How do you not understand the situation 2 years in? They do it because it will result in too many deaths if they do not.

 

Please show me that data that backs up that claim.
