Because you are going for their expertise, and you seem to be operating under the assumption that your knowledge and judgement is better than theirs. They probably won't reschedule the appt, but they are the medical professional and it is their call to make.

The number of Americans who lie to their doctors and then get mad about things not getting diagnosed correctly... lol

As I stated in the original post, she’s going to the doctor for something unrelated, not because she’s been sick.

She’s not going to the doctor because she was sick. I said that in the original post. It’s an appointment with a specialist that has been scheduled for months.

Definitely don't answer questions truthfully. They're just making small-talk.

I’m operating under the assumption that her answering the questions truthfully could lead to her having to reschedule an appointment that has been scheduled for months, which she doesn’t want to do.

They’re asking the questions about Covid symptoms to determine if they’re going to catch Covid from her. She’s tested negative for Covid twice. They’re not catching Covid from her.

    Doesn’t change a thing I said.

Yeah, it really does. If you’re talking to a specialist, like a dermatologist or an orthopedic surgeon, lying to them about whether you’ve had Covid symptoms in the past 14 days has no impact on their ability to diagnose your tendinitis or your dermatitis. You can lie to them about your symptoms, and they can still diagnosis you immediately after. So there absolutely is a point.

If she has tendinitis or dermatitis, she’ll be fine whether they see her tomorrow or a week or two from now.

    Lying to doctors is stupid

She doesn’t have either of those things. You have no idea what she has, nor is it any of your business. I shared as much as I was willing to share, and people didn’t read the post.

Refusing people care because they’ve had Covid symptoms in the last however many days, despite them testing negative multiple times, is stupid (not saying they for sure would do that, but it’s part of the reason I asked the question in the first place). People have died and treatable disease has advanced during the pandemic due to restricted access to care. Look at the numbers on people who have had to miss elective surgeries. Look at the numbers on women who missed their well woman exam.

Also, most specialists can’t just reschedule you a week later if your appointment gets canceled. You’re looking at multiple months, most likely.

People read the post, you just don't like the answers to your question.

Well if she has the flu she shouldn't be spreading it in the doctors office either.

Lying will come back to bite you. It always does.

    No, it really doesn’t it.

Again, for the 3rd time, lying to your doctor or a doctor who is seeing you for something routine or specific is [uck fay]ing stupid. Forever. And always.

    Hey Kshusha,

You posed a question to the group. Those who took the time to read the post, considered the details and gave an answer to your question, that you asked us.

What happened here is you already had your mind made up what you, or she, was going to do, so I don’t even know why you’re wasting our time.

He knows it's the wrong thing to do but was hoping we'd all agree with him so he'd feel better about his choice.

People in here talking about how lying to a doctor about Covid symptoms is going to lead to a misdiagnosis… for something like a non contact knee injury… but I’m Kshusha?

It’s okay to misread or not fully read the OP and form an opinion, then still come to the same conclusion that you shouldn’t lie to the doctor after more fully understanding the original post.

But if you use the same reasoning, about how they could misdiagnose your knee injury, or your skin irritation, or the lump in your breast, based on you lying about Covid, then you’re just doubling down on something stupid you said after not reading the post.

She had the flu symptoms last week. How long does the flu remain contagious? She hasn’t been symptomatic for days. Hell, even Covid stopped being a 14 day thing a while ago, did it not?
