I want to be clear that I don't think there is anything public that has any meat to it, but: you have to understand that if they DON'T impeach, that will be a much bigger problem for them due to their base.

They've known. Impossible for Biden/his admin not to have known this exact situation was coming. Whether it is their sheer incompetence or outright complicity in not meaningfully trying to prevent this situation they had to have at least known about the imminent Title 42 expiration and the ramifications to follow. Also, it's almost like appointing Kamala Harris as the "border czar" was indeed a huge mistake.
They've been taking action on this since the start of the year. The reporting is a narrative, and the scale of problem is such that this wasn't going to be resolved without a crisis.

IMO because essentially Rich Republican donor interests prefer the endless supply of cheap immigrant labor. And ever since Trump loudly made illegal immigration a centerpiece platform to his political movement Democrats in response pivoted to using our broken immigration system as a counter to the Trump era for partisan political purposes as a way to virtue signal against the "xenophobia and racism" of the Reps. "In this country no human being is illegal. We are a nation of immigrants. All immigration-legal or illegal-is valid". The current political climate surrounding this issue has both sides refusing to come together and find a workable solution. Why fix the problem when both sides can use this issue to campaign on? Compared to say both of the Bush admins, Democrats actually were more hawkish on this issue fairly recent ago. There was a time not too long ago when Dems were expressing a desire/need to prevent illegal immigration. Obama was dubbed the "deporter in chief" in Mexico with how he smashed deportation records under his watch. Hell, just look at old SOTU speeches from Clinton/Obama each sounding a lot like Trump imploring Congress for a border wall, ect.

It's not whether Biden or (fill in the blank with most career politicians) haven't done things deserving of impeachment and removal or otherwise formally removed from office. It's whether it can be proven in the public eye sufficiently to make their cohorts come together to collectively believe their risk in not backing the removal is more severe than doing nothing.

Add in the alleged CCP stuff they are potentially connected with, ect. and you've got justification for a very thorough investigation. Using a spouse/child as a conduit to act/trade/peddle on behalf of a powerful US politician relative is oftentimes how these DC folks play the game. Pelosi's husband and Trump's son in law being prime examples of this. Also, I'm pretty sure most of us who are paying close enough attention are well past the point now of having to keep pretending that the suspicious crap detailed on his laptop was only "Russian disinformation".
