Fired by Memphis. Former running backs coach at LSU and Oklahoma State under Miles. I bet he can recruit like a mother, too. Hire him? Hire him. (As RB coach, people, not head coach. Lord have mercy.)
He never should have gotten a head coaching job. He is a good RB coach and one of the best RC's in the country.
This sounds like a great opportunity. Baggett takes WR/TE. Or, when Hiestand goes, get someone who can do OL/TE. Either way...probably Baggett with both. Name Porter recruiting coordinator if Joseph goes.
I do not know how much credence you give to OCI on VN, but he said that Chaney stays and HH is gone. He further said, that Chaney would take over OL and Dooley would bring in a RB coach. I would not mind Porter as a RB coach. He was known for his recruiting as LSU (of course it was LSU) and that was the primary reason Memphis brought him in. He is much better as an Asst coach that is for sure.
Trick question. Would Porter (or any other new staff member) make it through the eventual coaching change here if they come now?
He got canned at GA - he sucks. Surprised the Trustees let UAB fire him (let him "resign"). Jimbo Fisher was signed, sealed and delivered back then and the Trustees got involved and poof - 2 days later Callaway is named HC.
Callaway was fired at Georgia? He had some good OLs there. I figured he moved on. Edit: I now see he was the OC there. I'd say he was better than his successor. I can't find anything saying he was fired. Sounds like he left to be a head coach.
