I think John Kelly would help fill in the void after Hurd. Granted, I've only seen limited action from him but what I saw was nice, hits the hole hard and runs with purpose. But we definitely need more RBs to help out.
Isn't Kelly like 160? I don't think a shifty guy is ever going to be shifty enough to get past the multiple linebackers and safeties that are going to be ready to smash him at the line of scrimmage because of our idiotic run design. It'll be even worse once we lose the very real threat of Dobbs rubbing.
Kelley is listed at 212 on utsports and 247, but we all know those are inflated (a little or a lot is the question). A year behind Hurd in S&C, he should pack on some good weight.
A guy in the mold of Dalvin Cook is better suited for the delayed nonsense we run. With a big guy like Hurd, getting hit in the backfield is antidote. With a Cook-esque* guy, they can still produce a big play. *Warrick Dunn also comes to mind.
I'm not sure that would be a great idea. He shouldn't be actively trying to be in the same draft as LF7, Cook, Chubb, Freeman, etc. The RB position is focking loaded right now in CFB.
