Butch is the 52nd best coach in the country

Of the guys ranked ahead of him, I don't think I'd take Fedora or Fleck over Butch.

I wouldn't take Freeze, but it has nothing to do with coaching ability, just the fact that Freeze is a sorry piece of shit.

Sumlin seems like a consistent 8-4 guy too, so I don't know if I would take him either. His teams play sloppy, unorganized football.

 

There are only 52 coaches in football in the NCAA? That doesn't seem right.

I'd gladly trade Butch for Fedora or Fleck.

 

I'd take Sumlin, too. Butch could never win 8 games in the West.

 

I also think Derek Mason should be ahead of Butch.

Maybe so, but he really did a nice job at his last stop. Butch has done nothing but ride Brian Kelly's coattails and make promises he can't keep in order to look good on National Signing Day.

I won't argue with it. Pretty good recruiter, builds some excitement, kind of a dunce at schemes and gameday planning, mostly keeps the program between the ditches.

That's middle of the pack, which is probably a lot farther from the front of the pack than most people realize.

 

Hell, our AD probably saw this article and started working on giving him a raise.

I'd hope so. We've got a top 100 coach on our hands. If he were a recruit, that would make him a 4 star. Hopefully we bump up his buyout as well.
