Michelis Facebook friends are, defending themselves, saying they tried to reach or see him in the past year but he wouldnt respond. Police called, but he hadnt done anything so he wasnt arrested. We need psych police. Or like rhe Tom Cruise movie, find a way to kill people before they kill
Seems like another example of a mentally disturbed person being overlooked and ignored right until he crosses the line.
If what smiff says is true (no reason to doubt it is) then it sounds like people were trying to do something, but until he did something there was nothing that could be done. Seriously, what do you do? Forced mental evaluations?
He was evaluated for a secret service incident at the WH last month. The issue is there is nowhere to put them. There is no mental health infrastructure for the public, because there is no public health system. One Flew Over the Cuckoo's nest might as well be set in Narnia.
The unchecked mental illness in this world is so vast and pervasive as to boggle the imagination. And many (most?) don’t wish to believe it even exists, much less matters.
I find it interesting that individuals who display psychotic symptoms in developing countries are actually less likely to develop long-term schizophrenia than their counterparts in industrialized nations. I think it may have something to do with the greater sense of community in those places as opposed to the often atomized/isolated social conditions in places like America, England, etc. We are a social animal after all and loneliness has profound effects on our physical and mental health.
Ya'll would have really liked this dude. http://obits.tennessean.com/obituar...4.1017040431.1528378755-1985976753.1528378754
