The A-10 is my favorite plane of all time just because of that GAU 8 30mm cannon. Like NY said, when they expressed the idea for a tank killing ground support aircraft to lay waste to Soviet tanks if they ever rolled into Western Europe, they said, Here's the cannon. Build the aircraft around that. And you're right. If they could keep a continuous supply of rounds to the cannon, it would slow the plane down so much that it would eventually cause it to stall & fall out of the sky. Went through college (1st degree in the early 90s) with a guy who had just retired from the Air Force. He was an A-10 pilot for around 20 years. I'm sure he got tired of it, but I always wanted to hear every piece of info or story he was willing to tell about his experience with the plane. Another reason I love it is because it reminds me of my childhood with my dad. As a kid, we went to Myrtle Beach every year. Myrtle Beach airport used to be an Air Force base whose main role was a base for A-10s. The engines on those planes have a very unique sound unlike any other jet I've heard. Whenever I hear one, it takes me back to all the hours dad & I spent on the beach just to watch them fly up & down the coast. Good times.
Saw a documentary on the A-10, and one of the pilots said how the first time she let the cannon loose, it sacred the shit out of her so badly she almost let go of the stick.
lol, never mind, YouTube has removed all of his videos. He said they sent him a notice that his channel was "terminated due to multiple or severe violations of YouTube's policy prohibiting content designed to harass, bully or threaten."
it is time for something to compete with YouTube. I can see the potential for issues, but he wasn't doing anything but calling out their bullshit.
He has a new premium site. $10 a month, no subscription. Link: https://videos.extremesealexperience.com/
YouTube has removed Don Shipley (Guy who busts fake Navy Seals) from its playform. They say it is the result of a video posted several years ago. However, he thinks it’s because he is the one who first outed Nathan Phillips, the tribal elders involved in the now infamous MAGA kid video from a few weeks ago, for his falsely claiming combat-related service in Vietnam. I don’t know if that claim, or any portion of it, is true or not. I believe in a free market. If Google/YouTube or any business - including all other social media platforms - wish to deny access to their product, such is their right. But if they and others are or continue to purge and limit the use / access / visibility of those whom they dislike or disagree, it seems impossible that they can then continue to reasonably claim neutrality, and tout themselves as being open communities that value and welcome a diversity of opinions, but only those to which they personally like and agree. That strikes me as being counter-intuitive to not only their business model, but also their recent assurances made to Congress, and under oath. Hold up. Nathan Phillips claimed to have been in combat? I hadn't heard that. I knew that was the story going around at first, but didn't realize he was the one that got that started. Nevermind. After doing a bit of research I see he lied about being a Vietnam vet. He was in the Marines in the 70's, but never set foot in Vietnam. Not a good look and you'd think he'd know better.
I thought the story was he said he was a vet "from the Vietnam era" and the news agencies stated, and then corrected, he was in combat in Vietnam. I know there's been s few times I've seen him say he wasn't in combat. Maybe he just likes to leave it unclear so people assume he was in combat.
i saw him interviewed shortly after and he was crying, literally crying, about how awful these kids had been to him and how he was a vietnam vet and they were disrespecting his service and how traumatized it made him. the dude is a real shithead.
