Don't let the angry spiteful old ladies of East Tennessee trick you into being cross with the lady vols. One Tennessee. I get it, I grew up with old ladies making jokes about the lady vols beating the men vols, and tearing them down using ironically sexist insinuations. It was never from the players or the coaches, though.
Thing about most lady Vols fans who attend games is the older men and women look the same. Would be impossible to guess the demographics
Apparently the mean old lady vol diehards are MAD that men are wearing the blue. Good! Get mad! One Tennessee!
I just don't know why people want to bite the hand that feeds them. Don't be jealous, be happy! Your sport gets to be played because football is so popular. Only two sports make money, the rest are living in their shadow, and that is just the way it is. Be grateful, and I am sorry as many people don't like your sport as football.
I mean I don’t know of a single person who’s “living in someone else’s shadow” who doesn’t grow to resent both 1) living in the shadow 2) the person casting the shadow. seems like a natural reaction to me.
And that’s not even mentioning that your program has arguably had more success within the field it played than the one who’s shadow you’re living in…
I think wearing the Lady Vol blue accent is cool and a shout-out for One Tennessee. It is stupid and petty to get mad. Do these old ladies get agitated when the teams wear pink for breast cancer?
That's an interesting point. But are they truly living in a shadow? Tennessee loves that basketball team as much as any team in the league. Probably more. It is a perceived slight that would be the same for the men's basketball team.
Apples and oranges. Like being mad the a winter Olympics performance isn't as popular as a summer one, when half the globe doesn't have winter sports. Tennessee actually supported women's sports before many did... and so the football team is the bad guys?
I actually like the blue as a tribute. I think it would be cool if they came up with an actual alternate uni with a blue accent.
