She's allegedly a really good coach that will be a star, but not quite ready yet. Does have a D2 title before the jump to D1.

 

I'd want to see a tourney run in D1 first.

I've pondered that. Only question I have is does she want to leave the west coast.

Unless you mean the other USC, which I say go for, but every other coach on campus is gonna get a raise if she's hired.

Because there is nothing I love more than a coaching search, I saw the KNS put out an article today where one of the candidates was the Oregon State coach. Don't know if he'd want to leave the west coast but that makes sense since they will be a West Coast Conference school next year.

 

Curious to see what they are willing to spend. Top of the market is over 3 million. Harper got a little over 1.

From what I'm reading, Gottlieb and Hammon (WNBA Las Vegas HC) are the big names on the board.

The looker from GCU is not on the BSD list.

DW waited for the KH buyout to drop from 1M/yr -> 0.5M/yr to pull the trigger. Smart. This tells me the gun has been loaded for awhile and our target(s) are in sight.

I am waiting for a Gruden-like frenzy with Hammon from the LV contingent.

Getting LV basketball back to Pat Summit excellence is the missing link. Football, MBB, BaseVols, LV Softball are solid. Other UT sports are in a better place than I remember. I don't think DW will make a budget hire. Jmo.

 

If Gottlieb wants it I think she should be the hire.

She took Cal to the Final Four which they had never done before or since.

She parlayed that into a job in the NBA. Not the WNBA. The NBA.

And now she has USC relevant again in WBB for the first time in 30 years.

She could also potentially bring over her freshman superstar Juju Watkins who will be the best player in the country the next 3 years, and she has the #1 recruiting class in the country incoming next year.

I have no idea if she’d take the job. But this could be a similar opportunity to when Kentucky poached Calipari from Memphis and he brought Wall and Cousins with him. If she said yes we could be right back in the top 5-10 in Year 1.

 

Im pretty much saying go all in on her. Read an article a few weeks ago about her and have been casually following them ever since.

I think Gottlieb is at the top of list. More likely to get her to come back east. Reading up on her, she seems to tick more of the boxes you would expect DW to have.

I think I read somewhere that Hammon got her Russian citizenship so she could play for them in the Olympics. That might not go over too well with some of the folks.

Still a Gruden-like frenzy would be entertaining.
