There are some parallels between her and Bruce Pearl at the time we hired him.

Both D2 national title winners.

Both had historic success at a lower tier D1.

Both want to play super fast, bomb away from 3 and press for turnovers on D.

Danny needs to sell her as “Bruce Pearl in a dress”

She’s female and young but that might be as far as the hot goes.

 

Danny White hired Liepold at Buffalo from Wisconsin White Water, he's now a hot head coaching candidate for nearly every job open.

He promoted Nate Oates when Hurley left Buffalo. He's got Alabama paying attention to basketball.

Danny White has a really good track record hiring coaches, especially little known ones.

 

I forgot he hired Leipold too.

I like the hire and I love that it wasn’t a former Pat player. To me the slam dunk hires were mostly not get-able or wouldn’t make sense.

 

But did Caldwell play for the Bear? If not, don’t want.

 

The risk-reward on this hire is off the charts, IMHO, especially with football running this incredible uptick

 

Does it really matter? UT sports have been absolutely killing it all during a period where multiple programs are eclipsing women’s basketball and I’m not sure a single thing is worse off for it. And legacies are legacies. Pat was a hell of a coach but that is what it was.
