This isn't the last staff.
Then you find the 3* guy like Sutton who becomes a freshman all american.
Things may look a lot different by signing day.
Butch was cold blooded last class. If a better player committed, you were sent packing. Dooley was terrible, but this isn't Dooley.
If he is a sufficiently skilled recruiter to pull it off without burning bridges then more power to him. IF
He didn't exactly recruit over kids.
Dom Booth - wanted to EE, didn't want to use a spot for him
Brandon Powell - wanted to stay home like a lot of SFLA kids.
Orlando Brown - academics
Lambert - flipped, would have definitely had a spot
Lawrence Lee - depth chart casualty
Jerome Dews - huge project, placed in prep in hopes of seeing a payoff down the road
Kevin Mouhon - probably the only player we recruited over
Kameel Jackson - academics
According to Doug Matthews, on his show a few weeks ago, he said Butch let one of the guys go after they got caught stealing on a visit. He said the guy went on to sign with another big program but that info was kept in house. He obviously didn't reveal the name other than saying he had been committed. Hmm.
Sure sounds like Lawrence Lee got recruited over.
The only guy who could have taken Lee's spot was Pearson. I just think he was scared off moreso than recruited over. Maybe we're talking semantics at this point.
I admit I haven't followed recruiting very closely, and I apologize in advance for asking questions which have probably already been discussed.
That said, where do people think we end up on signing day? I know I've heard people say this should be another great class, but at least in terms of rankings and star ratings (which admittedly, is the extent I've been paying attention), it doesn't seem that great right now. Is it supposed to pick up as we approach signing day?
Tennessee is 5th or 6th in the nation going by class rankings. How is that not great?
Tennessee is in on Tuttle, Phillips, Richmond, Sapp and Jefferson. I believe they are all top 200 players.
De'Andre Walker is another highly rated player Tennessee has a legitimate chance to land
Tennessee will finish top 5 on 247.
We have 22 players committed. If we are pursuing more and the estimate cap is at 23, how does that work?
We aren't giving scholly's to the punter and LS for starters.
Cap is 24. Swafford took 25.
Players will be told to look around
If the punting is shit this season, he may get one.
