2015 VA DT Tim Settle

Strange...

I kinda felt this was coming. He really doesn't like recruiting and I think it's safe to say he's feelings are hurt that he's 4th or 5th on our list at DT.

 

I couldn't see how we wouldn't take all 3 of McKenzie, Jones and Settle if they all wanted to come.

Tuttle being on campus this weekend too makes it interesting...

 

I think they would but landing 3 elite DT in one class is very rare.

 

My point was it was odd Settle named Clemson his leader around the same time Jones declared us his leader. May have just been coincidence. Maybe not. Who knows, but it did seem odd.

 

Oh, gotcha.

 

Last I had heard he strongly favored us. Not sure what happened here.

Butch does a very good job of cutting bait on guys with questionable academics. There isn't much hoping guys get in.

 

Bama fans seem pretty sure he's not a qualifier and that's why they never pursued much.

 

I don't like that idea. Run all the traps.

 

Depends. If there are as good or better options, why waste time and energy? I feel like some of those academic risks are just acts of desperation anyway.

 

It depends on how big a risk academically and if they want to put forth even a little bit of effort in the classroom.

Some guys try and just aren't very smart. I don't mind helping them.

Some are just lazy. You can't really fix that.

Plus, with Cheek and Martin, it's a losing battle for the most part.

 

I thought Hart and Jones convinced Cheek to lighten up on his admissions policy of athletes recently to mirror that of other SEC schools? Might be mistaken here

 

This. He seems to only work on guys that fly under the radar somewhat (like Bryant). The highly rated guys with grade issues always raise red flags and are hard to sneak in.

 

I think it's coming. Jones is too good of a politician to not stir that pot a few times.

 

It's still harder than it should be

 

If he can keep the academic numbers as high as he has, I'd let him take whoever he wants. But then I am probably more practical than Cheek.
