If I had a voice in Knoxville and the decision had been made to look for the next head coach, I’d toss Chris Petersens name out there and offer him money in the Saban range. His record is undeniable, it’s time to buy an existing proven commodity and stop paying coordinators to learn how on our dime.

Whaddya gonna do when he says no, like everybody else worth (and, not worth) a shit has done when UT came calling? Throw more money at him?

 

I'd support that, but as is the case with Stoops as well, I've seen nothing to make me think UT will ever open up the checkbook to hire a championship coach. After getting one paying Fulmer below market rates because he was a UT guy, they think they can do it on the cheap. They can't.

Petersen's currently making $5m. He'd probably need 7-7.5 to even consider a move. UT won't pay that, likely for anyone, but especially for someone who doesn't have a NC on his resume.

 

He's not going to. You just made me AD, and I'll make him head coach. Prove I'm wrong, or just continue with, "Who ya gonna get?"

Just because you think folks are ungettable does not mean they are. Don't lose sight of the fact that we no longer have a lifelong professional fundraiser and butt kisser for an AD.

 

If it’s as simple as “I’m the AD and this guys going to be our coach whether he likes it or not” then our last three coaching searches wouldn’t have become national laughingstocks.

This all bullshit anyway because Pruitt isn’t going anywhere.
