We had a 2 pt lead and they hit a 25 footer in our face. Wasn’t gonna be our night.

I don't know. They play a similar style to Kentucky, but more athletic, and we don't seem to handle it very well. I really think this team finishes off at 3-3, wins 1 in Nashville and ends up about a 3 seed, then gets bounced in the 2nd round. Another Barnes Special, just good enough to tempt you before kicking you in the balls. Quite honestly, I've been surprised this team hasn't lost more games. Barnes has done a good job, but they can't shoot for shit and their supposed star gets in his own head against the best teams.

Still, I'll enjoy last year immensely as I reflect on the state of TN basketball. Elite 8's are so rare, it's good to enjoy them when they occur. I'll turn on the DK YouTube highlights once more.

I’m not surprised you think this team will flame out early. This is a very good team. They have just as good a chance as any to make a final four run outside of Auburn and Duke.

 

They shot 50 percent two games in a row against us. Just unfortunate it happened to tbe same team and our most hated rival in basketball.

 

A lot will depend on matchups. I just think a team with a proclivity to go regularly extraordinarily inept shooting the ball often times has a short shelf life in the tournament. Hell, we had to sweat out a 2nd round game last year. A Sweet 16 is certainly very plausible, but another Elite 8, to me, isn't greater than a 25% or so chance.

 

Agreed. It’s always about matchups.

I just think everyone gets a little emotional when you lose to the same team twice and it’s also your biggest rival. We could play Kentucky a third time and if they shoot less than 40 percent from 3 we probably win by double digits.

 

Certainly there's frustration, but I've been reserved on this team's chances all year. I think Barnes has done a good job with the ok roster (Though it's his roster), but I see a team which is fairly limited. I wasn't like this last year. I liked them a lot and having a true transcendent star certainly helped. I hope I'm wrong about this year's team. I'm dying for just one, one, Final Four for this program. I just can't see it here.

 

Fortunately there isn’t a Purdue or UConn standing in the way this year. Competition is the only reason I can see this team making a run. Only a handful of really good teams this year. No great ones.

 

What about a Loyola-Chicago, Oregon State, or FAU?

 

In fairness, one of those teams had a nun who sold her soul to Satan for a March run.

 

Can we at least all agree that the “fahr Barnes” crowd is the dumbest group of people that god has ever put on this earth?

 

Anybody that wants to fire Barnes is dumb, but you get a pass on saying it for the first two hours after getting swept by Kentucky.

 

It's not that this team is bad, it's just that every time I think we've turned the corner we put up an offensive performance like last night against one of the worst defensive teams in the conference.

I said I'd be satisfied with 12-6 in conference, but right now it's really hard for me to see better than 3-3. We ain't winning in College Station or Oxford and even though Bama is at home, I just don't trust the offense enough to guarantee it. If we lose any of the other three there should be riots.

 

We might ger hot in one of those games. The two bad losses that should never have happened were home against Kentucky and Vanderbilt.

 

lol. You can look at a lot of the good teams tournament results the last few years and they are littered with losses to programs like the ones above. I mean just look at Kentucky’s results the past 3-4 years.

The NCAA tournament is the most unfair tournament for top teams in the world.

 

March Madness is the best postseason in sports from an entertainment perspective, but the worst way to decide a championship. Basketball was meant to be a series sport like baseball.

 

Even a best of 3 would pretty much guarantee that the most deserving team would advance.
