I have 6 or so towers, and 2 or so laptops. My work decommissions computers on a rolling basis. IT strips the memory and haddrives out, and sets the rest aside for scrap. Sometimes they also let me have memory and hard drives, and the other stuff. Other times I buy cheap used ram and ssds. No GPUs. Don’t game.

I'm in the processes of transitioning my plex and home automation server from an old tower to a NUC. Mainly tired of having the big computer in the corner of my office and having to listen to the fans.
Parents pay $ for anything for,their kids and unfortunately more kids nowadays stay inside, in their rooms. Id consider tapping into that market. Hey mom I can learn some computer shit for $99. Sure son.
We donate a lot of it too, to churches and not for profits, but most of the hardware that we don't have RAM for, or laptops with burnt out batteries just goes to the trash, otherwise.
