I was a big dinosaur nut when I was a little boy (and probably most boys are). It is hard to fathom the size of these beasts. I remember the first time as an adult I went to the Museum of Natural History in New York and was floored by the magnitude of the dinosaurs. I have been whale watching off the coast of Massachusetts, and a humpback whale is pretty damn big. I could not imagine looking out my front door and seeing one walking around on land.
did you see this big shrimp looking thing that was caught off the coast in Florida? Looks like something from Men In Black. http://myfox8.com/2014/09/05/fisherman-pulls-giant-18-inch-shrimp-like-creature-from-water/
i learned to read on dinosaur books. i don't remember what age but i read like a champ before i ever got to kindergarten and it was all because of dinosaur books.
I cannot imagine how thick and muscular this thing had to be to move around 77 tons. And the food it had to eat! I bet it would give OV a run for his money at the Golden Corral!
here is what you do: you get a bone with some meat on it, take it home, throw it in a pot, add some broth, a potato. baby, you've got a stew going.
It's a great secondary visit. The Shenandoah National Forest and Luray Caverns would be a nice primary with dino land added on. I'm also partial to Harper's Ferry.
