Both Transfer Portal Threads Merged

Seems like a good day in the portal. We’re not going after the huge names, but we don’t seem to be taking guys just to take them.

My only question is where are the DBs.

 

Apparently the BYU guy was brought in to take his job.

 

He was a starter last year and has played both tackle positions. Good pickup and needed.

 

Freshmen

 

They may already know what they have in them too, if they are already on campus.

 

They are a step up from what we have and what we have had.

 

At some point, the only answers are “trust the coaches” or “wait for the coaches to get fired.” It’s easier to trust Garner than Martinez, but…well even Martinez has seen a lot more of them than I have.

 

I would feel a tad better if I could in anyway even understand the technique he coached them.

 

How many schools of thought on DB technique are there? I’m guessing not that many

 

My extensive coaching experience on the xbox has made me familiar with 3 basic schools of thought: "conservative," "aggressive," and "balanced." Have to decide pre-snap.

 

I’ll add “chicken with head cut off”, based on observation, or as some call it, “electric football”

 

Jackson gone so we have Milton and Nico at qb.

 

That depth is a concern. And filling a spot for 2024 is suddenly even more important (not that this was a huge surprise or anything).

 

Harsh reality for a guy like Tayven. Good player with promise, but stuck between two guys he probably couldn't beat out.

How does he feel about 100 snaps a game?

 

Gonna be hard to keep 3 good QBs on a roster in the age of the portal. Tough break for Tayven that he got hurt this year.

 

I guess he believes in the “whatever must be done eventually should be done immediately” philosophy

It’s obvious there was no path to him being QB1 that didn’t involve multiple injuries ahead of him on the depth chart.

So why continue to live in denial, just accept your fate and move on.
