The guy had run the ball maybe three or four times at that point. He's a world class athlete. No way he was gassed.
A fairly common chart among coaches would indicate that you lie in that situation. Fans and media aren't familiar enough with the game to fully understand.
Can't get him hurt. Need him ready to go for the meaningless games at the end of the season so you can pretend like you accomplished something by beating garbage eight times.
Plus the fact that the previous play was reviewed, so he'd had an additional couple of minutes to rest.
Yeah, I know, just saying, Hurd has probably worked his whole life to be in that situation, and Botch screws the pooch.
After seeing how bad Azzani is messing things up, Jones is even a bigger ***** for not flat out firing this dude when he couldn't beg someone to hire him away.
He's just not a coach that has any business at this level. He isn't the recruiter he's touted to be either. A few legacies have greatly enhanced his recruiting here. Drop those and it's been decent at best. An upgrade from the previous clown is hardly newsworthy. If the guy wins here it will be from stumbling backward into it. That said, Fulmer absolutely stumbled backward into a title. I guess we'll take them however we can get them, but it sure looks awful in process. For my money, I think he has nearly no shot at winning anything of substance here. He has lost almost every game that matters as a Vol, many due directly to coaching decisions or methodology. I can't imagine him righting that ship enough to even stumble into it. Hell, great coaches have a difficult time winning it all with superior talent. The number who have bumbled into it is tiny.
