Let's see, in the last twenty years, Tennessee has had 5 seccg appearances, 3 sec titles and a national championship.

We only have 2 Championships winning 97, 98 while losing 01, 04 and 07.

But bottom line, being the #8 all-time winningest program, we play for SEC and National Championships, not Champions of Life.

'01 was a great year, and my first SECCG in person. I felt almost sick after that loss. It physically hurt. Hindsight, it was the beginning of the end. 2001 was our last "special" year.
I went to every game - home and away - in 2004, including the SECCG again, but it wasn't the same. I want to get back to special.

 

The 04 game is a tough memory for me. My wife's uncle was killed in a auto accident and I found out in the 4th quarter and left with about 7 minutes left in the game. Felt helpless being 300 miles away when it happened.
