I don’t trust Banks to stop Rattler and get us off the field. Giving up 6,7,8 minute drives kills the offensive rhythm as much as anything. See 2nd half against UTSA. Our O went halftime then another 8 minute drive before touching the ball.
That was the first time I really noticed the new clock rules have an affect. I looked up and they had chewed up 6 and a half minutes.
it’s not an excuse and we have to do better, but if you and I are sitting over there that long, our minds lose focus. We are also giving some looks. Getting antsy. Not smiling. Then go out and “have to put a drive together “ to give defense a break. Just a total mindset issue imo that doesn’t help anything. And it’s natural, not just us. Any sport. When defense gets off the field and the whole sideline has a bounce in their step, our offense will look better.
I think it is a problem and it will eventually become acknowledged. The "middle 8" is going to become the "Middle 16." Were I an offensive coordinator, I'd be planning on being able to play super slow to essentially cut games in half as soon as I had a two score lead.
It's more noticeable when you are at the stadium IMO. Maybe because I don't look at the clock as much as I do during a game. Was a system shock.
Yeah but I really noticed it against Florida. We ran about 6 plays in what seemed like 15:00 of game. the new rules are way worse in the stadium. commercial break after commercial break.
Part of why it is easy to forget is because their fans are too casual to complain about them. You'd think it was the Vols who are 2-2.
Eh. Rattler making quick, short throws as they methodically work their way down the field. Plus a few missed tackles for big gains/scores. He's very accurate and our secondary is challenged.
Oh, he may not. I understand SC is a very flawed team. It's just I trust Rattler to take advantage of a poor defense more than I do UT's offense taking advantage of Carolina's. I'll also admit last year's evisceration is scorched into my brain.
I haven't watched a second of USCjr this season, nor have I read anything about them. But based on what I've seen of us this season, I'm not really confident about us against any SEC opponent.
