Was about to ask him if it was because he liked to do drugs and stare at the ceiling, or if it was because he liked the game.

Let whoever among you who hasn't gone on a drug and liquor bender while having your first lesbian experience the night before the world championship against Cold War Russia's champion who happens to be the greatest grandmaster of his generation cast the first stone.

Nothing more humbling than online chess. You realize how many horrible horrible blunders you make every game.

    Hard on the ole ego.

The more I play, the worse I get.

I have declines, but over the long haul I am getting better. Try and not keep doing whatever it is you are doing. Same mistakes/decisions, same results.

Also, if you are basing this off chess.com ratings, you can expect to see your score decline towards something closer to your real level as you play more games as a beginner. It gives a lot of benefit of doubt.

And vary the time format. If you are only playing rapid, get a couple classic games going.

I am playing almost solely 10 minute rapid, and I hang a LOT of material.

Haha, so stop hanging. Play classic to build the habit of not hanging.

I am no expert, but this is the advice I read and it is helping me make modest improvement over time.

I got into chess again pretty big back last year while in quarantine. I'll go though phases where I play a ton and then do a 180 and won't pick it up again for a few months.

I mainly play correspondence right now on chess.com since I don't have much time to sit down and dedicate to an actual classical match.

Would be up for a game every now and then for anyone signed up on there.

Playing slow/classic helps you play fast. Playing fast is good for learning the openings because you get repetition. That said, I only have time for the 10 minutes (or less) games. 2-1 is really fun.

The best way to get better over there is to train tactics. Probably worth the membership if you really want to get better.
