Listening to Sports Animal for a few minutes before heading into the office.

Dearstone is is talking to Jeff, lamenting the wearing of the "I Can't Breathe" t-shirts. It's a common theme, of late, with Dearstone saying that he didn't want social issues discussed in sports, that athletes shouldn't wear those shirts, etc.

Young black guy calls in and makes an excellent point: Lebron wearing that shirt has got everyone talking about the issue, with Dearstone being notably included.

Never one to stop digging, Dearstone counters by mentioning his witnessing the civil rights protests of the 1960's, and that they were all non-violent, etc.

That lead to this gem of an exchange (paraphrased, from memory):

Caller: "Yeah, they were peaceful, but that didn't stop them from turning the hoses on them, and letting the dogs attack them."

    Dearstone: "Well, they had to!"

What the hell is that shit?

The problem is that he's the program director and nobody above him really gives a shit about the station as long as it's making money.

That's what I was told a few years ago.

Yeah he's the boss and happens to be the worst on air personality. Bad combination.

The real problem is that the whole crew is right in the wheelhouse of the vast majority of the listening area.

    Sad, but true.

How is LeBron wearing a t shirt not just another example of nonviolent protest? Dearstone is a sorry excuse for a human being. He's not even smart enough to be a good bigot. He should stick to talking about women's basketball and his golf game. Those are the only subjects he isn't totally ignorant of.

They already went through all the trouble of getting the hoses out.

I don't listen to them, for many reasons, one of which is that I'm not fully tempted enough to call in and ask him to tell the audience what his son's toxicology report showed after he died.

Special, special place in my heart.

My papaw was one of those 101st Airborne members.

Edit: more than just that day.

You don't have to ask and he doesn't have to tell. Everybody already knows.

Small world, my family has a good long history with the 101st Airborne.

I'm sure your papaw and my family crossed paths.

Oh, I know what it was. It would be solely to prove a point.

Didn't someone call in and ask him about that a few years ago?

You just know that one of these people has a knife. The only thing stopping them from stabbing everyone is that water.
