Honestly, nothing surprises me anymore. I'm still appalled, but never surprised.

For some reason, this doesn't strike me as an Al Qeada play.

sporting events were actually near the top of al queda's list of good targets. a marathon where you have easy access to a lot of people would be a lot easier than say the super bowl. makes perfect sense to me.

Imo, if Al Qeada the bombs would have been secondary and used as a diversion of resources from the primary attack.

Yeah, but it doesn't really fit their modus operandi, unless they are fundamentally changing the way they do business. It seems to lack that grandiosity that they subscribe to, and there was no indication beforehand.

do you think they have the resources to pull off that level of an attack anymore? could be one cell acting by itself. would explain why the fbi didn't hear any chatter. or it could be homegrown. neither option is very palatable anyway.

I see what you are saying, but this doesn't seem like a small thing to me. could be homegrown islamic terrorists like the london bombing. obviously too soon to tell.

Imo, AQ still has plenty of resources. As I mentioned earlier, if I want to attack Boston I am all in with a Mumbai attack.

Every thing will be wild speculation for a few days. I fear tea party rhetoric will bloom. People like Matthews will be off their kilter.

If it's Al Qaeda, you can bet this is the beginning. As awful as that is.
