Feels like 2005 all over again

Start out highly touted, implode and be unranked.

Side note, why spend $120 mil on upgrading Neyland if you're not going to be committed to win?

Very similar. Appy State felt like UAB. Florida comeback felt like LSU comeback. Real difference is barely beating UGA instead of barely losing to Bama.

Yeah, I was saying 2002 until last night. It's now 05.

Fulmer didn't get fired after '05 though.

Butch doesn't have a National Championship and won't have scores of former players everyone loves lobbying to keep him. Probably have a few cheering his demise.

Fulmer also had a winning tradition that Lyle Jones would kill to have.

But I don't think Jones is getting fired either, unless the wheels completely fall off the wagon and the whole thing burns down to the ground.

What's the point in keeping him? Could anyone provide a legitimate argument that he is going to fill the trophy case (excluding Bristol trophies and taxslayer rings).

Is no point. No one here will give you a single reason to keep him past this year, I believe.

The AD? They will back up the excuse bus to keep him. In fact they will gladly give you ten million reasons to keep him.

I don't understand anyone within the organization honestly thinking he's the man, but then again I'm surprised by stupidity every day.

Allocating the national debt of Portugal for new urinals while retaining Lyle is criminal.

7-5 might be enough to cut him. 8-4, and he's coaching for his job in '17.

    9-3, he'll be here for a while.

If you're coaching for your job in '17 and couldn't win with the talent you have in '16.... Go ahead and do what needs to be done. No way the Vols are better next year than this year.

If a coach is on the hot seat it's best to go ahead and part ways. No highly rated recruit is going to play for a dead man walking

This is nothing like 2005. I went to Tuscaloosa that year fully expecting to beat Bama.

    Agreed.

Skip the inevitable two year spiral where you just run it into the ground.

I don't have to touch the hard bottom to know it's down there under that muck somewhere. Don't see why our boosters always want to check.
