Whats up with this? http://www.knoxnews.com/govolsxtra/football/injured-former-usc-player-sues-school-kiffin
Got a concussion in a high school bball game somewhere in the 2nd quarter, I dont remember anything about the second half. I woke up in a hospital room with the Tennessean Sports page in my lap. I read in the box score where I scored 10 points in the second half and dont remember the first thing about it.
The particulars of this case, aside....I'm wondering what the ramifications of this sort of claim may be, not only to the school, but personally, for coaches. I don't know if it will even be heard, or how un/successful it might be, but the prospect of an athlete suing a coach, personally, could be a worrisome turn of events for coaches.
The first playoff game of my senior year, I cracked back on a linebacker and I don't remember anything else about the game. Someone told me I caught two passes that game, but I have no clue.
I'm waiting on the lawyer-types to come in and say that this either won't be heard, or that it has absolutely no chance at succeeding. Because if it's heard, and a judge establishes a precedent - however seemingly high and/or unlikely - by which it can occur, and damages sought or awarded, it's absolutely going to happen.
I barely remember the second half of Tennessee's last bowl game appearance and don't recall at all the following events that transpired in downtown Nashville. A friend of mine and I awoke in our hotel room by the airport not really sure how we got there. Can I sue [ddiapos]?
