Gator Bowl Rings

Team got them today. I wish I was making this up.

 

They're just plastic though, right?

Not as bad as Ole Miss getting bowl rings. At least UT won.

 

I'm imagining the ring as a plastic lizard/gator that has it's own tail in it's mouth, with the head being at the top and two little googly eyes on it. And it comes in a little clear plastic bubble with an orange bottom. And each team member has to bring his own quarter to get one out of the machine.

 

I can't help it, I just think it's ridiculous. It's the gator bowl for crying out loud.

 

I wouldn't be surprised if it wasn't common

 

And it's stupid everywhere.

 

Are they still toting the trophy around to every event as if it's the Ark of the Covenant or something?

 

Don't see this as a big deal at all. Good for the athletes

 

I wonder how many tattoos they can trade a ring for

 

We live in a ring generation. Kids now chase rings at travel ball events. I can only imagine the dialogue when one of those "Ring-promising" coaches, and I use the term lightly, call my house to try and get my son to play.

 

Eh, let the kids enjoy it. Worry about other things.

This is probably why it bugs me more than the general eye roll.

 

Schools have been doing this for a long time for all bowls.

Heck, 11 wins, as dumb as it sounds, is a lot more ring-worthy than a Gator Bowl.

 

I mean SCe was celebrating the all time -ALL TIME- pinnacle of their program. I kind of get it.
