I remember playing in a tournament where we played like shit but still made runner up. Somehow we "earned" a trophy that was no joke five feet tall, and they wanted to have a fairly formal on field presentation. We told them to keep the trophy and went home.
I guess, but the peach bowl sodimization commemoration is weird. Participation trophies have made their way into college sports.
I remember that the 03 team got sec east rings when they tied for it that year and the team seemed legitimately embarrassed.
I would melt mine down. Gator Bowl rings. Ugh. I guess this stuff has been going on for a while. I thought rings were for championships. I could get behind a trophy football or something, but a ring has a certain meaning to it.
This ring is exponentially better looking than our NC rings, except for three critical areas: 1. It says "National Champions" 2. It's not a complete waste of money, and irrelevant 3. It highlights the apex of our program's accomplishments, instead of bedazzling our slow decade-long drift into the shitter. Look, I couldn't care less if they got rings. But if you're the type of player who wants and wears it, well, I look forward to your graduating. Dobbs, Hurd, Barnett, whomever.
