It may mean he just can't be an EE - but probably means more problems than just that. If its the case that he couldn't EE at Auburn, but could've here and still chose Auburn - then he's truly a big dumbass.

Was about to ask where this originated. I've been searching for an hour and can't find it mentioned in any of the major/semi-major outlets.
Apparently he's just waiting on his final grade in a correspondence class. Edit: Auburn has announced him as an official signee now, so I guess he's cleared.
