The KNS / GoVolsXtra (Not just GoVols24/7), apparently not contented with the same slow and agonizing death that has been constricting print media for over a decade, ratcheted up its death throes today by now requiring a Digital Subscription to access even its routine online content.

From a quick view, it seems that the lowest monthly subscription amount which will allow "digital access" is $11.00/month.

Personally, I can't wait to never pay $11/mos to access largely poor content, which is belatedly delivered.

I get the Sunday paper only, and I'll have access to everything. It's less than 11 per.

I wouldn't pay $1/mos if they paid Garrison Keillor to come to my home and read the KNS to me, Prairie Home Companion style.

    But that's just me.

You can't blame them for at least trying something to save a dying enterprise. If they have 10,000 people that do it, and that's a stretch, it will be over a million in new revenue.

The Tennessean is the same way...both dying. It's only use is for coupons or ads during holiday season.

I don't blame them any more than any business who stupidly doubles-down on a basic misunderstanding of the supply and demand curve.

It would be different if they were breaking stories 24 hours ahead, hell....even breaking stories at all. They are literally asking me to pay for info that is already part of the public record. Essentially, they are asking me to pay for supplemental information, and I can't remember the last time I went to GVX for source info.

Would rather just throw $11 out my car window over the river once a month.

The best thing about gvx is the way the comments section after the online articles make you feel smarter despite the fact reading them has to make you dumber.

You could drive by my house and throw it in my yard, I'll find it.

It isn't just GVX though. This is for even the most mundane news article. It is bullshit.

The comments on news articles would usually make me ashamed to live here.

They honestly don't break shit, do they?

Hell, they just got scooped on Worley being the starter - and not by a local rival - but ESPN.

Their stuff is more OP-Ed pieces, anyway. Sort of like Reader's Digest, but with less (intentional) humor and not as hard-hitting.

    The KNS news-cycle recently -

    1. critical article of Haslam
    2. critical article of local GOP officials
    3. find most ridiculous thing they can find about GOP, publish it as if it is mainstream
    4. article on a person having lost $5, claim it was stolen
    5. person killed by knife, show how this means we need tougher gun control laws
