I had a friend put it to me like this: We'll say that Toyota provides all the vehicles to NCAA schools. They pick the biggest fish and send them Lexus'. That signifies: * You're a priority school. They want to treat you right. * You're not going to spoil that Lexus by leaving McDonald's wrappers and beer cans in it. * The school can easily use this as a recruiting ploy as, simply put, you'll have access to the best possible gear if you're a student athlete there. There aren't a lot of "elite schools". Alabama football is one, but not all Alabama athletics. Kentucky is one, but only for BBall. UT is one for all sports. I think Ohio State, Texas, USC, Florida, etc are. Usually they're schools with powerful recognition across multiple sports and not just one. TL;DR Elite is their good stuff and our entire AD just got it.
