Intense. Loss of a lot of good men on that mountain. Reading Luttrel's accounts beyond the movie made me even more amazed. Watch some of the YouTube videos with him. Interesting man.
I know a few of the events portrayed were not true to the story but given the book written and statements made that was a tough group of individuals.
Did these events have anything to do with Pat Tillman? I haven't looked at this at all I'm ashamed to say.
On a side note, my cousin was the Spec Ops chaplin at that base when that happened. He gave the ceremony on the base for those KIA during that mission.
One of my students is an Afghan vet. Came home two years ago lucky to still have his right arm. Now he's 50, unemployed, and has me for an instructor. Guess that is the price you pay for getting lucky with a limb.
Im not really sure about that. He had literally just gotten there when it happened. It was his first combat zone deployment. He said he really didnt know how to handle it. The end of the movie shows actual pics of some of the men, one of the caskets draped in the American flag. IIRC he told me that he placed those there.
